Titon Holdings Plc is a leading international manufacturer and supplier of ventilation systems and window and door hardware with over 50 years of history and expertise. Titon has a strong presence in the UK residential ventilation market with a comprehensive range of mechanical and natural ventilation products and is also a leading supplier of window and door hardware. We also sell our products into a range of European markets and the USA market is supplied through a wholly owned subsidiary, Titon Inc. The business has two divisions; Ventilation Systems and Window & Door Hardware.
About the role
The Buyer supports the procurement department by handling routine procurement tasks, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of products and materials needed for manufacturing. This role is ideal for early-career candidates who are developing skills in sourcing, supplier communication, and ERP/MRP systems. The role will also entail some administration duties for the wider business.
Core Accountabilities
Procurement
- Create and process purchase orders based on data analysis, buying trends and production and inventory requirements.
- Request quotes, gather pricing information, and assist with supplier comparisons.
- Follow up with suppliers on order confirmations, shipping updates, and delivery dates.
Supplier Coordination
- Communicate daily with suppliers to track open orders, confirm delivery dates, and resolve routine issues.
- Identify risks such as late deliveries, quality issues, or capacity constraints and take early action to initiate mitigating actions, such as:
- Requesting expedited shipping or partial shipments
- Identifying and proposing alternative materials or substitute suppliers
- Adjusting order quantities or delivery schedules based on production needs
- Coordinating with planning and warehouse teams to realign priorities
- Escalating persistent delivery or communication problems to the Senior Buyer and/or Management
- Engaging Quality, Engineering, or Supplier Development teams when technical issues or non-conformances occur
- Reporting high-risk supplier issues (e.g., repeated misses, potential shortages) in daily/weekly production or procurement meetings
Inventory & Production Support
- Monitor stock levels and alert senior buyers or planners of low-inventory risks
- Coordinate with production, planning, and warehouse teams to ensure material availability
- Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy efforts
Administrative & Data Management
- Maintain accurate purchasing data in the ERP/MRP system (pricing, lead times, part info)
- Reconcile invoice discrepancies by working with suppliers and the finance team
- Assist in generating purchasing reports and tracking key metrics
- Assist in office purchasing
- Perform administrative tasks as instructed by the SLT
Knowledge, skills and experience required (Essentials and Desirables):
- Experience of purchasing, supply chain, or in related administrative roles (manufacturing experience a plus)
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and understanding of purchasing processes
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organisational, communication, and follow-up skills
- Desire to learn and grow within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Salary negotiable depending on experience.
