Titon’s HRV1.6 Q Plus MVHR unit has featured in a BBC news report as part of the launch of the new Energy House 2.0 project.Watch here from 7.26am.
The Energy House is a unique research and testing laboratory and comprises an early 20th century two-bedroom terraced house within an environmental chamber to allow an accurate and rapid assessment of energy efficient retro-fit technologies.
The environmental chamber can be used to simulate a wide variety of weather conditions with a temperature range from -12°C to +30°C. The chamber is also equipped with rigs to simulate wind, rain, snow and incident solar radiation.
The Energy House 2.0, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, is a one-of-a-kind, world-leading research facility that is forging the way in making our buildings carbon neutral. Energy House 2.0 will facilitate a step-change in the design of buildings, such as our homes, helping us to live more sustainably in low carbon environments.
The enhanced capacity HRV1.6 Q Plus is a continuously running whole-house ventilation unit with heat recovery and is independently tested by the BRE. It was chosen for this project as it maintains an ultra-compact size despite its improved results.
Combining extremely low power consumption and a highly efficient heat exchanger, the unit enhances SAP performance via Appendix Q, and yet remains versatile enough in size to be equally as functional in larger apartments as it is in medium to large sized dwellings.
The HRV1.6 Q Plus Range comes in two different models; the ‘HMB’ and ‘B’ versions which form part of Titon’s Eco range. The HMB version was installed in the Energy House.
