Designed for compliance: What sets Titon’s FireSafe® range apart?
    6:24

The buildings of today must satisfy both air quality standards and stricter fire safety regulations. This dual focus has been strengthened by regulatory changes and the government's initiative to promote ventilation solutions that enhance both energy efficiency and indoor air quality, creating a precise set of criteria that architects, contractors, and pre-construction teams must adhere to when designing their building strategies.

When a project aligns its fire strategy with its ventilation strategy, the approval process is swift, compliance risks are minimised, and implementation remains on schedule. This is exactly the outcome that pre-construction teams and mechanical and electrical (M&E) contractors need; smooth approvals, thorough documentation, and reliable products and support for compliant projects.

    Compliance pressure is rising

Building Control teams now expect ventilation components to align with a tighter, more explicit safety regime. Since the introduction of the Building Safety Act, which has led to an update of building regulations, designers have been required to demonstrate both energy and ventilation performance. New builds are now expected to include IAQ monitoring and clearer standards for recirculating systems, in addition to the ongoing fire safety requirements outlined in Approved Document B.

For pre-construction teams tasked with de-risking specifications, components that are non-combustible by design and documented against the proper standards make all the difference.

    Meet the Titon FireSafe® range

The Titon FireSafe® range is a family of fire-safe, non-combustible ventilation terminals and kits, including Single Air Bricks,  Double Air Bricks and 100 mm Push Through Wall Kits engineered as high-flow, low-resistance endpoints for MVHR, MEV and dMEV systems. The range is specifically designed and built to resist fire and support the external wall build-up.

    • New residential builds and refurbishment of dwellings.
    • External wall penetrations serving 204×60 mm and 220×90 mm duct systems.
    • Facades with cladding via a bezelled option that sits cleanly in rainscreen designs.

Five design choices that de-risk project  sign-off

    1. Non-combustible construction

Titon FireSafe® Air Bricks are fabricated from electrogalvanised sheet steel (fire class A1 – “no contribution to fire”) and finished with a A2-s1,d0 polyester powder coating tested to EN 13501-1. That means the terminal itself cannot add to the fire load and supports compliance with Approved Document B (Dwellings), including the 2020/2022 amendments.

    2. High flow, low resistance

Unlike many generic grilles that compromise airflow when opting for metal over plastic, Titon FireSafe® is specifically engineered as a high-flow terminal. In practice, that helps you hit your design duty without resorting to oversizing fans (or adding noise).

    3. Duct & facade compatibility built-in

Titon FireSafe® connects cleanly to 204×60 and 220×90 ductwork, with transition pieces, metal sleeves and 45° bends available. A bezelled variant is available for cladding/rainscreen applications, preserving detailing and weathering.

    4. Documentation, BIM, and CPD

NBS specifications and literature are available for Single and Double Air Bricks, with BIM objects and a CIBSE-accredited CPD to help your team understand detailing and compliance nuances.

    Designed for today’s ventilation landscape

While Part B drives non-combustibility in external wall elements, Part F continues to sharpen expectations for indoor air quality and sets the context for performance-led ventilation choices in dwellings and non-domestic buildings. Choosing a terminal that supports both safety and airflow is the simplest route to hassle-free compliance and reliable operation.

    Integration, finishes, and accessories

    • System pairing: Titon FireSafe® Double Air Bricks are ideal with Titon HRV Q Plus and CME Q Plus ranges, providing the right free area at the facade while maintaining non-combustibility.
    • Finishes: Standard colours include Terracotta, Sand, Grey, White, and Brown; special finishes are available by arrangement.
    • Accessories: Metal sleeves, 45° bends, and transitions (e.g., 330×60→220×90).

    Conclusion

Titon’s FireSafe® range is engineered for easy sign-off, minimising post-build risks, and helping keep construction projects on budget and on time; providing exactly what pre-construction and M&E leads look for in a preferred supplier: quality, technical support, robust warranties and dependable availability within the UK.

    FAQs

Is a metal, non-combustible air brick required for compliance?

Part B requires appropriate fire performance of external wall components. Specifying a non-combustible terminal (A1/A2-s1,d0) simplifies compliance evidence for facades. Titon’s FireSafe® range is metal-bodied (A1) with an A2-s1,d0 powder coat and is compliant with Approved Document B.

Which ducts will Titon FireSafe® Push Through Wall Kit connect to?

Our Push Through Wall Kit offers out-of-the-box compatibility with 204×60 mm and 220×90 mm rectangular ducting, plus accessories and a bezelled option for cladding.

Is there independent documentation to attach to my spec?

Yes, NBS Source product data sheets (with EN test references) and a CIBSE-accredited CPD are available.
